“Never, ever forget your original intention for the sake of your goal—just like when we name the wind: it’s not the direction it’s heading that matters, but rather the direction from which it comes.” — Xia Zhengzheng
Every year when I return home for the Spring Festival, relatives and friends always ask me what I’m doing. Each time, I tell them that I’m a pharmaceutical professional. I’ve always been proud to be a pharmaceutical professional. Perhaps they’ll say my salary and benefits aren’t as good as theirs, or perhaps they’ll say my working conditions aren’t as favorable as theirs—but as a pharmaceutical professional, I’ve always maintained a sense of awe and reverence. For me, my work is not merely a means of earning a living; rather, it represents a sacred cause, a small yet meaningful contribution we make to the health of humanity.
10 Earlier this year, driven by my curiosity about biological sciences, I chose to major in pharmaceuticals. Along the way, though fraught with ups and downs, I never imagined I’d stick with it for so long. After experiencing the uncertainty of entering the workforce and the stress of a hectic work environment, I decided to settle down and commit myself fully to a career in pharmaceuticals—not because the pharmaceutical industry is particularly great, but because it offers me a state of relentless learning and constant self-challenge.
I still vividly remember, when I first stepped out of the ivory tower and entered society, that feeling of never backing down, diligently studying and always striving to understand everything. Time. 2011 At the beginning of the year, I left school full of bright ideals about life and started my internship. But as soon as I joined the company, I encountered a major setback in life. The knowledge I’d learned from books turned out to be useless at work; the tasks I was assigned were completely new, and the demands of the job had become entirely different. At the time, I just couldn’t understand why, when a record was written incorrectly, we had to cross it out, sign it, and date it—why was it so complicated? Couldn’t we just correct it directly? Why wasn’t it enough to simply fix the mistake? We even had to write down the reason for the correction, and on top of that, we weren’t allowed to make too many mistakes on a single page—any errors in our records would result in a fine. Why did we have to keep such detailed records? No matter what we did—even something as simple as mopping the floor—we had to document it all. Wasn’t that a huge hassle? And why did we have to double-check and calculate material balances for every batch of ingredients? Weren’t the operations for each batch pretty much the same anyway? …… , There was so much misunderstanding at work; I remember it was precisely during the time of the new version. GMP ( 2010 At the stage when the revised version came into effect, after each week’s training sessions, I would always immerse myself in study, forgetting to eat or sleep. GMP There were many clauses and concepts that I didn't fully understand, but as I kept learning, everything suddenly became clear. It turns out that every step of our work wasn't just arbitrarily requested by the leadership—it's a mandatory requirement stipulated by regulations, designed to ensure the quality of our products.
This is the first time I’ve come into contact with it. GMP For the first time, I realized that pharmaceutical manufacturing is a truly unique industry—not just any ordinary field. This industry demands that we uphold a rigorous commitment to quality and adopt a responsible attitude toward our products.
2015 The year is when the country mandated the implementation of the new version. GMP In the final year of the transition period, I was fortunate enough to participate in... GMP A comprehensive, certified effort—working day and night under the glow of lamps—just to prepare for inspections and ensure compliance. GMP The regulations kept changing the documents, and the workshops were constantly required to cooperate in making production modifications. Over the past year, I’ve come to understand the importance of attention to detail—every tiny flaw is simply unacceptable. Striving for perfection is my own standard, and that’s how I aim to excel. GMP The system and hardware facilities are fundamental to ensuring the quality of our products.
Also in this year, I experienced for the first time what “flying inspections” and “surprise inspections” really mean. I learned about the nation’s stance on quality requirements for pharmaceutical companies—and it turns out that violations... GMP The regulation stipulates that violators will be penalized and banned from this industry for life. Fraud and deception simply cannot last in the long run; a company that lacks a commitment to quality will ultimately end up shooting itself in the foot.
In the two-plus years since joining Yinuorui, I’ve experienced more than I did back home. GMP International inspections with stricter standards, FDA Audits—German audits, Russian audits, Turkish audits—each with its own distinct set of standards have allowed me to learn even more. Time and again, I’ve come to realize that there’s no limit to what one can learn in the pharmaceutical industry. Every single inspection is an opportunity for learning and personal growth, deepening my understanding of just how crucial quality is to pharmaceutical products.
The recent Changchun Changsheng incident has served as a wake-up call for us pharmacists. Having a conscience is the fundamental requirement for anyone in the pharmaceutical industry. We are engaged in a sacred mission, and the quality of our medicines is the very face of our profession. No matter how challenging the circumstances may be, we must never abandon our commitment to ensuring product quality.
The road ahead is long, Life is full of many setbacks, but only by persevering, working hard, and never giving up can we truly embrace the right attitude toward life. When we look back on our experiences, we’ll still be able to hold our heads high and say: “I love this profession—just as we did when we first made our choice. Let’s stay true to our original aspirations and keep forging ahead with determination.”
